MY MOM'S 96TH BIRTHDAY

Today is my mother, Arlyene Williams birthday.  She made it to 96.  Thats 30,064 days and 841,536 hours

ECCLESIASTES 11:5-6 (NIV)  AS YOU DO NOT KNOW THE PATH OF THE WIND, OR HOW THE BODY IS FORMED IN A MOTHER'S WOMB, SO YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE WORK OF GOD, THE MAKER OF ALL THINGS.  SOW YOUR SEED IN THE MORNING, AND AT EVENING LET NOT YOUR HANDS BE IDLE, FOR YOU DO NOT KNOW WHICH WILL SUCCCEED, WHETHER THIS OR THAT, OR WHETHER BOTH WILL DO EQUALLY WELL.

HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES FROM HER BIRTHDAY PARTY:

SAN ANTONIO ARTIC BLAST

This is the silliest post we will do but it has to be done.  Sylvia is convinced that San Antonio should be considered a country( 2 1/2 world country - not quite 3rd world but close) all of its own because the city and the people have a culture different from any of the rest of the United States.  From the food, to the streets, to driving -its wierd.

It snowed almost 1/2 inch and the city closed down.  The streets were all closed, I-10, 1604, 410, 35 - all closed down.  The few" idiots", for lack of a better word, that did brave the streets, wrecked.  People around here have not seen snow since 1985.  They don't know what black ice is and worse, they don't know how to drive in it.  The tow truck industry is raking in the $$ - more in 1 day than the whole year put together/

Mason braved the cold weather and went out in it to capture pictures of wrecks on Prue Rd.  He walked maybe 100 yards and fell on his tail bone.  Thankfully, there were a few other unwise neighbors w/him and they caught him before he landed too hard but he is hurting again - he had just gotten over his back pain of 2 weeks.  Soooooooooooooooo, here is what he captured in pictures:

ice on the street
ice outside our driveway
it didn't even stick to grass just rocks
our neighbors trying to make snow angels in 1"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 hours later - melting snow and ice:
snow melting off neighbor's roof
melting ice on streets and dry spots
The temp last nite was 22 degrees and now its about 38 (at noon)
Tomorrow it will be 62 so we will be back to normal cold while the rest of the country is happy w/anything above 0.  I guess we are blessed w/our weather - told you we are different.

2011 - A New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y"ALL - 2011

Well, 2010 is gone and now we are at the beginning of a new year, 2011, with lots of exciting challenges, changes, adventure and new people to meet and places to go.

We attended a New Years Eve party with our neighbors and their family-they had about 30-40 family members visiting them from Mexico.  Had a wonderful time and here are a few of the pictures from that party.

Sylvia made about 10 doz of these beef/bean/cheese and salsa taquitos

We had a white elephant exchange and it was crazy but fun.

some of the revelry and hugging at midnight
Mason was happy but has a hard time remembering to Smile altho on the earlier picture, he did show his enthusiasm.  We were up till 1:30am

We were supposed to go to Albuquerque on the first and got as far as Dallas but the flights to Albuquerque were sold out, and, as we travel standby, couldn't get on so we came back to San Antonio for some much needed rest - we slept the day away.

God is in control and He knew we need to hear a much needed sermon on Sunday by a guest speaker, Phillip Williams, about how storms don't define us; its how we get thru them and what we do after the storm that define us; the blessing is waiting.  We need an attitude of gratitude, putting pride aside because satan will try to take us off course on serving God and being good Christians.  When we humble ourselves before God and do His will, God will open up heaven and pour out blessings - GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL!
